Answer

The content on your homepage is broken down into into the following sections:

The content and links for each section are managed either by dynamically pulling content from a subpage, or by NationBuilder's Featured Content Slider feature. How to manage the content and links for each section is described below:

Homepage Featured Content Slider

The homepage featured content slider can be managed by navigating to Websites > Cash for College > home > Settings > Featured content sliders in your NationBuilder Control Panel. Featured content sliders for this section of your homepage should be 1300px wide by 800px tall. For general notes on how NationBuilder's Featured Content Slider feature works, click here. Remember that images uploaded to your website should have as small of a file size as possible to minimize page loading times.

Section 1 Subpage

The content in Section 1 of your homepage can be managed by navigating to Websites > Cash for College > home > Subpages > section_1 in your NationBuilder Control Panel. You can edit the Title and Headline for this section under the Settings tab, and manage the body content for this section under the Content tab.

NOTE: For this section to display properly on your homepage, "Section 1" needs to be entered in the Name field found under the Settings tab for this subpage, like this:

You can also add a video to this section using NationBuilder's Embed.ly integration. Paste a link to your video after the body content for this section under the Content tab (see screenshot below).

Section 2 Subpage

The content in Section 2 of your homepage can be managed by navigating to Websites > Cash for College > home > Subpages > section_2 in your NationBuilder Control Panel. You can edit the headline for this section under the Settings tab, and manage the content for this section under the Content tab.

NOTE: For this section to display properly on your homepage, "Section 2" needs to be entered in the Name field found under the Settings tab for this subpage.

Section 2 also has three nested subsections (a, b & c). These nested subsections are set up as subpages of Section 2. Click on the Subpages tab for Section 2 to access these subsections.

To work properly, the Name for each subsection must be a lowercase letter named in alphabetical order, starting with the letter "a". So for example, the letter "a" is all that should be entered in the Name field found under the Settings tab for section a, like this:

For each subsection, you can customize:

  • The section Headline (found under the Settings tab for each subsection). Note that the headline field is also used to generate a link to the relevant page, so the headline should be a single word that matches the slug of the page you want to link to. For example, the first subsection with the headline "Inform" links to the /inform page.
  • The body Content (found under the "Content" tab).
  • The icon. To change the icon, upload an image named "thumbnail.png" to the Files tab. The image should be 110px wide by 110px tall, and all white with a transparent background.

Section 3 Subpage

The content in Section 3 of your homepage can be managed by navigating to Websites > Cash for College > home > Subpages > section_3 > Files in your NationBuilder Control Panel. You can upload four custom infographic images to this section, as well as a custom background image.

Each infographic image should be 350px wide by 360px tall, and all-white with a transparent background. Each infographic image should be named "stat1.png", "stat2.png", "stat3.png", "stat4.png" respectively.

The custom background image for this section should be named "background.jpg" and be 1300px wide by 381px tall. When selecting an image for this section, remember that there should be enough contrast between the image you choose and the white infographics to ensue legibility. We recommend using an image with a strong blue overlay as your background image.

NOTE: For this section to display properly on your homepage, "Section 3" needs to be entered in the Name field found under the Settings tab for this subpage.

Section 4 Subpage

The content in Section 4 of your homepage can be managed by navigating to Websites > Cash for College > home > Subpages > section_4 > Settings > Featured content sliders in your NationBuilder Control Panel. Featured content sliders for this section of your homepage should be 1300px wide by 500px tall.

The Headline/Action text for slides in this section include three parts, the Title, Headline and Button text. Each part needs to be entered into the Headline/Action text field separated by a vertical bar character ("|"). For example, the headline/action text for this slide:

 Screen_Shot_2015-08-14_at_9.32.36_PM.png
